Moraira - Costa Blanca - Spain

Moraira has become one of the most select locations along the Costa Blanca. With it's charming combination of the old fishing village, fabulous Marina (King Juan Carlos is a member) sandy beaches and stylish, limited development, Moraira is highly regarded as a chic and exclusive holiday choice.

Moraira is located on a quiet corner of the Costa Blanca: Villas nestle between vineyards and pine-wooded hills. It is one hour's drive to Alicante, 1-1/2 hours to Valencia.

Golf, tennis, horse-riding and diving are available in or near Moraira. The new theme park, Terra Mitica Park at Benidorm is within 30 minutes by car.

Flights

Alicante and Valencia are the main airports in the area. Numerous airlines fly to Alicante from airports all over the UK. BA and Iberia are the two main airlines flying to Valencia, together with several low cost airlines e.g. Easyjet and Ryanair.

Flight prices do vary and it is worth shopping around. You can use either a local travel agent or use the internet. It's worth looking at the budget air-lines - Easy Jet, Flybe and Buzz.

Transfer from Alicante and Valencia airports by Taxi to Moraira is approximately 85/120 Euros (Alicante) 110/150 Euros (Valencia) each way. There is a large taxi rank outside the arrivals lounge at Alicante, although in the high season it is recommended you book in advance.

We would recommend arranging car hire before you travel, it is simpler and safer for you to book this yourself direct as you will need to state what type of car you require and then give your flight details (arrival and departure times and flight numbers). It may be that you can get the best deal by booking a car in with your flight (special rates are offered by some airlines and charter companies).

Make sure you have some Euros on arrival: you will need to pay a small car park charge (pay in the booth or machines where you enter the car park) and a motorway toll if you take the motorway to Moraira, 5.40€ (Alicante) approx. 8.50€ (Valencia) (which you can also pay by credit card).

Calpe - (15 minutes drive, great big stretch of sand, a touch of Benidorm, but there is a less known good sandy beach next to the restaurants at Calpe port)

There are 4 golf courses within easy reach of Moraira, all have clubs for hire to visitors and provide coaching if required. The closest 2 courses are:

Club De Golf “La Sella”
Situated between Javea & Denia .
18 holes, 6,308M, par 72 & green fees 35 euros. Although almost absolutely flat it has many trees and water obstacles (Canals and lakes that provide irrigation). It is a private club with restricted membership but the holidaying public are allowed to play and use the well appointed clubhouse. Facilities include driving range, putting green, motorised trolleys, clubhouse with club bar, lounge bar and restaurant, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts.

Club De Golf “Javea”
Situated between Moraira & Javea.
9 holes, par 60, 3,540M & green fees 24 euros. Quite flat, easy to play & not so tiring in the hot summer sun. This all-year course has been attractively planted & landscaped around the greens, has a driving range, putting green, heated swimming pool, tennis & squash courts,club bar & restaurant.

Club De Golf “Oliva Nova” – Designed By Seve Ballasteros
Situated between Denia & Oliva. This course is a little further away and has all the top-level facilities you would expect.

Supermarkets (open Mon-Sat. till 9pm or later. Some close for a siesta 1.30pm to about 4pm. Some open in the morning Sundays & fiesta days.)

Pepe la Sal near Cap Blanc on the Moraira to Calpe Road - open all day, many English products available. Also a smaller branch in Moraira.

Pepe La Sal - on Teulada Road from centre of Moraira. Open all day and Sunday mornings. Up the ramp above Barclays Bank.

Mercadonna Benissa and Javea - Spanish supermarket, wide range of fresh meat and fish,

Mas y Mas - Moraira and Benitachell
Large supermarkets, fresh bread, meat, cheese etc.

Open Cor - Moraira. Located on the corner of the roundabout, opposite the petrol station. Open every day 8am to 2am the following morning.

Visit the local Bodega's and try the wine, port and sherry straight from the barrel. They also offer wine from the local vineyards.
